 Abide with Me by Elizabeth Strout    Rating:  Four Stars

 Tyler Caskey is a young, earnest minister who has just lost his wife after a long illness. His younger daughter goes to live with Tyler's overbearing mother. His older daughter is deeply troubled and begins acting out in school and at home. It is 1950s small town Maine and gossip is rampant. Rumors begin that Tyler is having an affair with his housekeeper. This is a beautifully told story of one man's attempt to come to terms with his grief, his faith, and his work as both a father and a minister. Wonderfully drawn characters that will stay with you long after the last page is turned.
